Justice Shamlan Al Sawalehi has more than 25 years of experience in cross border financial, investment and commercial litigation and arbitration within common law, civil law and Sharia' legal systems.
He joined the DIFC Courts in 2010 as Judicial officer then become Small Claims Tribunal Judge before he was appointed as the Court of First of Instance Judge in 2013, then he was promoted as the Courts of Appel Judge in 2017, then in 2020 he was appointed as Judge in Charge of the Arbitration Division of the DIFC Courts and the chair of the Courts arbitration Group.
Prior to that, he was the founder of Shamlan Law firm where he represented UAE government and private clients on complex commercial and financial disputes in the MENA region. Before that he served as Director of Strategic Affairs at The Executive Office of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai. Prior to that, he served as Law Enforcement Manager of DIFC Regulatory Authority for 3 years. Before that he served as senior Public Prosecutor at Criminal and Civil divisions in Dubai for 5 years wherein, he was involved in investigations of high profile commercial and financial crimes and represented the Government departments on several high-value litigation cases before the Dubai Courts.
He was appointed as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chairman of many arbitral tribunals seated in MENA region and Europe. Catherine Dixon

Umar Azmeh
Registrar of the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC)
Umar Azmeh is the Registrar of the QICDRC, comprising the QFC Civil and Commercial Court and the QFC Regulatory Tribunal. He oversees the management of cases through the QICDRC and serves as a member of the senior management team and the Judicial Advisory Board.
Umar qualified both as a barrister and a solicitor. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2009 by Middle Temple, and practised as a barrister, gaining experience in criminal and civil law, latterly conducting civil litigation on behalf of various United Kingdom government departments. He then qualified as a solicitor at an international firm in London where he gained experience of commercial law, including high value commercial litigation. Umar has acted as a government lawyer working on both criminal and civil cases, and also has experience working in the legal department of a large financial services institution. He most recently practised at a leading law firm in London where he specialised in advising and representing high net-worth individuals and corporates in regulatory investigations brought by domestic and international regulators.
Umar holds an LL.B. degree from King’s College, University of London, and an M.Sc. degree from the University of Oxford (Worcester College), where he graduated first in his year. He is currently a DPhil in Law Candidate at the University of Oxford (St Anne’s College), is a regular contributor to academic and practitioner publications, and is also a Visiting Lecturer at The City Law Schools (City, University of London).

Hazem served as the Head of Claims and Advisor to the CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports Company, focusing on arbitration disputes related to the new Abu Dhabi airport project.
With a Law degree from Harvard, and background as a judge and chief justice in both Egypt and the UAE, Hazem is now an experienced arbitrator at multiple arbitration centers and is a member of the ADCCAC's Arbitration Committee.
Hazem is a faculty member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

Prof. Nader M. Ibrahim is an Egyptian academic, who works as Professor of Commercial Law, for the Law School of Qatar University, since 2016. Prof. Ibrahim read law at the Law School of Alexandria University, where he received his graduate studies (1991-1992), including his PhD in International Commercial Arbitration (1998). This is in addition to an LLM in International Business Law from the Sorbonne Program at Cairo University (1994).
Prof. Ibrahim started his academic career in 1995 at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST&MT), Alexandria, Egypt, where he taught Commercial & Maritime Laws, International Business Law, and Arbitration Law. His expertise also includes negotiating contracts and other commercial transactions.
Dr. Mohamed has been involved in numerous arbitration cases as a "legal expert" and has served as a sole arbitrator or a member of arbitral tribunals in other cases. He is a CEDR Accredited Mediator (London) with a comprehensive understanding of mediation both as a scholar and practitioner.
